ABOUT JENNIFER SMITH, U.E.

I first developed an interest in genealogy as a teenager when my favourite uncle loaned us a copy of his grandfather's diary, along with a brief lineage of this Irish branch of our family. However, it wasn't until nine years ago that I began doing serious research after randomly entering my grandmother's maiden name, Truax, into an online search engine. That idle query eventually let to an obsession with the genealogy of all the Truax descendants of Philippe du Trieux, and detailed investigations into the other branches of my family as well as my husband's.

In addition to my research skills, I also have extensive experience in producing and publishing genealogical works. The largest of these is the five volume, 1,300 page "Truax / Truex Genealogy Project". Using previous genealogies of the family as a foundation, I updated and added to the family lines, corrected the many errors, found connections between previously unconnected branches, and found and cited corroborating sources for almost every name, date and relationship. This massive project not only familiarized me with all types of American and Canadian records, but was a tremendous experience in producing quality genealogy books on a budget.
